1. Overview
This Privacy Policy describes how the Moonwell protocol interface ("Interface") at moonwell.li handles information. Moonwell is a non-custodial, decentralized protocol — by design, it minimizes data collection and does not require user accounts, email addresses or identity verification.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
Moonwell does not collect, store or process:
- Personal identification information (name, address, phone number, date of birth)
- Email addresses or user accounts
- Identity documents or KYC/AML verification data
- Private keys, seed phrases or wallet passwords
- Financial account details (bank accounts, credit cards)
3. Information Automatically Collected
When you visit the Interface, standard web server logs may automatically record:
- IP address (anonymized where possible)
- Browser type and version
- Operating system
- Referring URL
- Pages visited and time spent
- Device type (mobile, desktop, tablet)
This data is used solely for maintaining Interface security, diagnosing technical issues and understanding aggregate usage patterns. It is not linked to individual identities or wallet addresses.
4. Blockchain Data
All transactions executed through Moonwell are recorded on public blockchains (Base, OP Mainnet, Moonbeam, Moonriver). Blockchain transactions are public by nature — wallet addresses, transaction amounts and timestamps are visible to anyone. Moonwell does not control, own or store this data. It is inherent to the blockchain infrastructure.
5. Wallet Connections
When you connect a self-custodial wallet (e.g., MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet) to the Interface, your public wallet address is temporarily accessible to the Interface for the purpose of displaying your balances, positions and transaction history. Moonwell does not store your wallet address on its servers after your session ends. Your private keys are never transmitted to or accessible by the Interface.
6. Cookies and Tracking
The Interface may use essential cookies to maintain session state and interface preferences (such as selected network or theme). Moonwell does not use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels or third-party tracking tools for marketing purposes. No data is shared with advertising networks.
7. Third-Party Services
The Interface may use third-party services for:
- Font delivery (Google Fonts)
- Price feeds and market data from on-chain oracles
- RPC providers for blockchain communication
These services may have their own privacy policies. Moonwell does not share personal information with third parties for commercial purposes.
8. Data Security
Moonwell implements reasonable technical measures to protect the Interface from unauthorized access. However, no internet-connected system is completely secure. Because Moonwell is non-custodial and collects minimal data, the attack surface for personal data breaches is inherently limited.
9. Data Retention
Server logs are retained for a maximum of 90 days for security and diagnostic purposes, after which they are deleted. Since no user accounts or personal profiles are created, there is no long-term personal data retention.
10. Children's Privacy
The Interface is not directed at individuals under 18 years of age. Moonwell does not knowingly collect information from minors. If you believe a minor has accessed the Interface, please contact us through the channels listed below.
11. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights regarding your data under regulations such as GDPR, CCPA or similar frameworks. Since Moonwell collects minimal data and does not maintain user accounts, most data rights are satisfied by default. For specific requests, contact the Moonwell community.
12. Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated periodically. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Interface constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
